The next "Basic" training course will be held on the RIT campus in Rochester, NY on March 4-6, 2009. Registration will be available in a few days.

At the present time, it is required that new user's take at three (3) day course that introduces the user to the physics in the model and how to use the model (see the schedule for a more detailed overview of the course matter). Attendees will receive a printed copy of the DIRSIG User's Manual, course notes, tutorials, and hands-on experience. If the software agreement has been properly signed by a representative of the organization, then the attendees will also leave with a CDROM containing the current release. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided each day. The course fee is $2,000 per person.
The course is taught by Scott D. Brown (the primary developer and technical project manager of the DIRSIG model since 1994) and Niek J. Sanders (a DIRSIG developer since 2002). Dr. John R. Schott (Head, Digital Imaging and Remote Sensing (DIRS) Laboratory) conducts a half-day theoretical overview and model validation talk as part of the scheduled course instruction. Dr. Schott has been the guiding hand behind the DIRSIG model since the start of development in the mid-80's.
The training course is held in the Carlson Learning Center in the Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science on the RIT campus in Rochester, NY.
