22.2. Technical Description
The Balfour model in DIRSIG implements the temperature prediction equation described in ``A simple thermal model for natural background elements'' [Balfour 1995].
The complete prediction equation is:
Where T_s is the surface temperature in [C]. E_s is the solar irradiance in [W/m^2]. E_i is the atmospheric irradiance in [W/m^2]. T_a is the air temperature in [K]. W is the wind speed in [m/sec]. a_0 through a_4 are material-specific coefficients.
