Description Scott D. Brown 2014-09-19 09:23:36 EDT
It has been observed that the LAS output of a LIDAR sim does not seem to have the same number of points as the ASCII output.
Comment 1 Scott D. Brown 2014-09-19 11:08:33 EDT
After some testing and debugging it was found that the LAS files produced did have all the expected points but two issues were discovered and resolved:
1. The number of total points for each return (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.) was not correctly set in the header. Although the meta-data for each point had the correct return number, these totals in the main "public" header said that all points were 1st return. This might trip up some readers.
2. The code did not have a safety net to make sure the maximum number of returns allowed in an LAS file (which is 5) was not exceeded. This was fixed and those points are now skipped. The summary at the end will tell the user how many points were skipped.

These fixes will appear in the 4.6.0 release.
